LOFT DESIGN IN ZURICH

The big open raw space was divided into four distinct areas, entrance, living, working and sleeping by placing a box off center. The box contains a bath room with separate toilet and laundry area. Its outside reflects its uses by organizing Kitchen, ward robe, storage and library spaces.
Big format bakelised wood panels were used for the box. The silver colored Forster kitchen adds a visual highlight and has Electrolux appliances. Big stained wood floor panels were varnished and have shown to be use resistant and have altered beautifully over a 11 year span. The owners have later built a dividing wall when they had a daughter creating 2 bedrooms with a storage room in between. The original design has proven to be very flexible to allow for these changes. Big sized translucent tempered glass panes are separating kitchen from the bathtub and office from the sink area inside the box thus providing a diffused natural light. The mirror and make-up area are next to the sin. An enfilade of three sliding doors allows for access into the box, separation of toilet and spatially and visually connecting the entrance and sleeping areas.
